Southampton boss Nigel Adkins is delighted with Saturday's 3-1 win at fellow strugglers QPR.

Southampton manager Nigel Adkins has described his side's 3-1 win over Queens Park Rangers on Saturday as a "great afternoon" for the club.

Rickie Lambert, Jason Puncheon and an Anton Ferdinand own goal helped the Saints claim a vital three points against their fellow Premier League strugglers at Loftus Road.

"The fans lifted the players all the way through the game. We're all together, we're working hard for everyone and it was a great afternoon for us," said Adkins.

"We are all supporting each other. Everyone is together at our football club."

Saturday's win has lifted 19th-placed Southampton to within a point of safety.
