Spain attacker Juan Mata believes that if Spain win gold at the London Olympics it will ensure that they are recognised as the best team in world football.

Despite La Roja having won the last three major international tournaments, Mata wants the country to prove beyond doubt they are the best in the world at the moment.

"We want to win gold to show there is no doubt that Spain are the best football nation in the world," Mata said.

"We can cope with the pressure of being favourites. Everyone is talking about a Spain v Brazil final but our opponents are not important to me. We'll take it match by match."

Mata came off the bench to score in Spain's 4-0 triumph in the Euro 2012 final.
