Tottenham Hotspur reportedly fear that Richarlison could be sidelined for a month with the hamstring injury he picked up during the World Cup.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly concerned that Richarlison could be sidelined for a month with a hamstring injury.

The 25-year-old started as Brazil's first-choice striker at the 2022 World Cup and came up with an impressive three goals and one assist for the five-time champions in Qatar.

Richarlison scored both goals in his side's opening 2-0 win over Serbia before scoring once and setting up another in the 5-1 thumping of South Korea in the last-16 stage.

The ex-Everton man then featured from the first whistle against Croatia in the quarter-finals, but he was taken off on the 84-minute mark as the Selecao went out on penalties.

According to the Evening Standard, Richarlison completed 84 minutes against Croatia despite suffering a hamstring injury in the warm-up, and he is now set for a spell out of action.

The report adds that the attacker was due to enjoy a week off in the wake of Brazil's World Cup exit, but he returned to Tottenham on Monday in order to undergo further assessment.

The results of Richarlison's scans are yet to be announced, but Tottenham are fearing that the South American may not be able to play again until the New Year.

Richarlison's World Cup hopes were initially plunged into doubt when he suffered a calf injury against former club Everton on October 15, and he subsequently missed six games for Spurs in all tournaments.

The attacker recovered in time to make Tite's squad, but he could now face a few weeks on the sidelines during an injury-plagued season for Tottenham's attackers.

The influential Dejan Kulusevski has been limited to just 12 competitive appearances this season due to a hamstring injury, but he was able to take part in a friendly win over Motherwell on Friday.

Richarlison's fellow Brazilian Lucas Moura has also struggled to overcome a tendon problem, while Son Heung-min suffered a nasty facial injury against Marseille in the Champions League last month.

Son was able to compete for South Korea at the World Cup with a mask, and there is nothing to suggest that he will not be ready for Tottenham's return to action later this month.

Tottenham are expected to be active in the January transfer market, with the club prepared to back Antonio Conte with funds, and a new forward could be on the agenda for the Italian.

The Lilywhites are said to be one of several clubs keeping an eye on the situation of Crystal Palace attacker Wilfried Zaha, who could depart Selhurst Park as a free agent at the end of the season.

Tottenham will return to Premier League action following the World Cup with a London derby away to Brentford on Boxing Day.
