Gus Poyet: 'I'll do things my way at Sunderland'

Sunderland head coach Gus Poyet says that he will do things his "own way" at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland head coach Gus Poyet has insisted that he will stamp his own approach on the Black Cats as he begins his career at the Stadium of Light.

The Uruguayan was appointed as the Premier League outfit's new leader last week following the dismissal of Paolo Di Canio.

While the 45-year-old has claimed that he will take influence from the various coaches he played under during his career, the former Brighton & Hove Albion boss has insisted that he will do things his "own way".

"I thought to myself 'what if someone sees something in me and they offer me a job tomorrow?'," the Shields Gazette quotes Poyet as saying. "I have to know what this is all about.

"As a coach, you can learn from everyone you work with, but you have to do it your own way, and that's what I am going to do at Sunderland."

Poyet will take charge of his first Sunderland game when they travel to the Liberty Stadium to take on Swansea City on Saturday.
