Tony Pulis: 'Transfer window disrupting clubs'

Tony Pulis calls for the transfer window to shut before the new season starts, as it disrupts clubs four games into the new campaign.

West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis has called for future transfer windows to be shut before the season starts, as it disrupts clubs at the start of the new campaign.

By the time the summer window closes at 6pm on September 1, teams will have played at least four games of the new season.

Pulis urges that the window should close before the season starts as it can become very "time-consuming".

"My personal view is that the window should close and then the season should start," Pulis told Sky Sports News.

"To have a situation where you're four games into the season and you're still trying to negate and bring in players, and move players on, worry about this and worry about that – you should be concentrating solely on putting your team together.

"It's time-consuming. The agents and the clubs, at times, wait for the last moment so they can drive the deal up, so it's very demanding and stressful in lots of respects, and I don't think this is the ideal situation for a transfer window. I really do think it should be finished on the Friday, then the season starts on the Saturday."

Pulis is not the only manager that wants the deadline moved, with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger having also voiced his concerns about the transfer window's timing.
