David Gold gives Sam Allardyce backing

West Ham United co-owner David Gold believes that Sam Allardyce is the right manager for the team and will help them survive in the Premier League.

West Ham United co-owner David Gold has insisted that Sam Allardyce will remain the club's manager.

The Hammers pulled themselves out of the Premier League relegation zone on Saturday with a 2-0 away victory over Cardiff City.

"People talk about the dreaded vote of confidence, but what we say is what we mean and our view is that there was nothing wrong," the Daily Mail quotes him as saying.

"Sam was doing nothing wrong, other than that he had an injury list which was pretty devastating. So you can't blame him for that.

"I can remember from time to time when a manager, who will be nameless of course, who has lost the will, or he's lost the dressing room or the desire or whatever it is, then that's something when the board has to step in. But Sam's done everything that we've asked of him."

West Ham are currently level on 18 points with 18th-placed Cardiff, but are a place above the Welsh outfit due to a superior goal difference.
