Jenson Button hoping for Brazil podium

Jenson Button remains optimistic about McLaren's chances at the Brazilian Grand Prix despite a poor season.

McLaren driver Jenson Button is hoping to end his team's torrid year on a high by finishing on the podium at the season-ending Brazilian Grand Prix.

The best result that the Briton or teammate Sergio Perez have managed so far in 2013 in fifth place and the Woking-based outfit have not finished without a podium since 1980, but Button remained defiant about their chances in Interlagos.

He told PA: "If everything goes to plan we can get a very good result, and we should still hope for a podium.

"If we don't get a podium then it is not going to change the way we go about our car next year but it would just be a nice way to end the season."

Button will have a new teammate for 2014 after McLaren decided to replace Perez with young Danish driver Kevin Magnussen.
