Mika Hakkinen: 'Lewis Hamilton stronger after Monaco Grand Prix error'

Lewis Hamilton will bounce back from missing out on victory at the Monaco Grand Prix, according to Mika Hakkinen.

Mika Hakkinen has insisted that Lewis Hamilton can use the disappointment of missing out on victory at the Monaco Grand Prix by winning next time out in Canada.

The Briton was set for a comfortable win on the streets of Monte Carlo, but was caught short when he pitted for tyres as a safety car came on track following Max Verstappen's crash.

Hamilton could only finish third as a result, but Hakkinen believes that Hamilton must not dwell on what caused him to miss out on victory.

He told Reuters: "'I'm going to win the next one'. That will be his motivation. You cannot just start getting depressed about it.

"You have to learn and analyse everything that has happened, and get stronger and better.

"All these things that happen in motor racing or in life, they make you stronger because you learn from those things. It's just very hard in the position you are sitting, in the racing car, when everyone is staring at you. Millions of fans looking at it and asking why? It's hard to be a driver sitting there and have to answer these questions."

Hakkinen, like Hamilton, is a double world champion, having lifted the title in 1998 and 1999.
