Lewis Hamilton secures first Monaco Grand Prix pole position

Lewis Hamilton secures pole position for the Monaco Grand Prix for the first time.

Lewis Hamilton has secured pole position for the Monaco Grand Prix.

The Brit's teammate Nico Rosberg finished qualifying in second place, securing a one-two for Mercedes.

It is the first time that Hamilton has qualified quickest in Monte Carlo.

Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel will start Sunday's race in third position, while Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull ended the afternoon in fourth. Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button and Felipe Massa were among the drivers who dropped out in Q2.
