Dustin Johnson has admitted that he is feeling confident of living up to his billing as tournament favourite at The Open on the eve of the competition.
The 32-year-old tasted victory at the US Open in June and followed that up with more success at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational last week.
Johnson is now ready to get going at the 145th Open Championship at Royal Troon on Thursday, as he prepares to get one over on Rory McIlroy, world number one Jason Day and two-time Major winner Jordan Spieth in Scotland.
"If I play my best stuff, I believe I am going to win," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "I like my chances of winning. Obviously I'm playing pretty well right now. I always feel like I'm the best player in the world and I always expect to contend."
Johnson will replace Day at the top of the world rankings should he prevail at Troon and his rival finish outside the top 10.
