Rory McIlroy carded a one-under-par score of 71 in the first round of The Masters at Augusta, leaving him three shots adrift of pacesetter Bill Haas.
The Northern Irishman was two-under after five, but botched a four-foot par putt on the final hole to finish the day one-under.
McIlroy chalked up two birdies during the first five holes, but was pegged back by bogeys on the eighth and 12th, before steadying the ship with further birdies on the 13th and 15th.
He managed to recover from hitting a bunker with his first shot on the 18th, finding the green with his second, but missing that four-foot par putt saw him finish three behind clubhouse leader Haas.
