Former world number one David Duval has advised Jordan Spieth not to make changes to his game in his search for further Majors success.
Duval, 43, made the comments after 22-year-old Spieth, who won both the Masters and the US Open this season, rose to the top of the world rankings for the first time following his second-place finish at the PGA Championship.
"One of the things I'm hoping is that he doesn't chase distance in this distance-prejudiced era. He doesn't need it," Duval told the Golf Channel.
"He's ascended to number one against a mighty formidable group of players this year. That goes to show that what he's doing is right.
"He doesn't need to improve. Every golfer wants to improve. Be careful that you don't go backwards in that process. If you figured out a way and you get to number one how do you need to improve? You're the best."
Duval, who won the 2001 Open Championship, topped the world rankings during two separate spells in 1999, but has struggled with injury since and lost his tour card in 2011.
