Brooks Koepka shoots a magnificent 66 in the third round of the US PGA Championship to take the lead at Oak Hill, but Scottie Scheffler drops down the leaderboard.

Brooks Koepka has recorded his second successive 66 to take the lead at the US PGA Championship after the third round.

As wet conditions again pounded an already-imposing Oak Hill course, the American shook off the difficulties to produce five birdies and hit the front.

The LIV Golf player's round was in sharp contrast to joint second-round frontrunner Scottie Scheffler, who begun Saturday's play with back-to-back bogeys.

To the world number two's credit, he would complete the remaining 16 holes having dropped just one further shot, but Scheffler trails the four-time major winner by four shots heading into Sunday.

As it stands, Koepka's nearest challengers are Viktor Hovland and Corey Conners, who posted level-par rounds apiece to remain at five-under-par.

Bryson Dechambeau was also able to shoot that score to stay at three-under-par, occupying fourth spot on his own, while England's Justin Rose is level with Scheffler in a share of fifth.

Rory McIlroy produced his second 69 in a row to remain in contention, defying four bogeys to still make progress up the leaderboard.

PGA professional Michael Block continued to defy expectations with a third consecutive 70, and he is joined in tied eighth by Justin Suh who could only record a 73.

World number one Jon Rahm remains down the field in 42nd place, even though his round of 72 saw him advance six spots up the leaderboard.
