World number one Rory McIlroy has said that he is 100% ready to defend his US PGA Championship at Whistling Straits this week.
The Northern Irishman ruptured ligaments in his ankle last month while playing football with his friends, and so missed The Open at St Andrews.
However, he has played a couple of practice rounds in Ohio and said that there are no issues with his ankle.
He is quoted as saying by BBC Sport: "To play golf, it's 100%. To go back on a soccer pitch, it wouldn't be quite ready. To do what I need to do this week, it's 100%. If felt fine. I've come a long way in five weeks."
McIlroy is set to play alongside Jordan Spieth and Zach Johnson in the opening two rounds.
