Ernie Els will head into round two of the BMW Open with a one-shot lead following an impressive start in Munich.
The South African had a steady start with one birdie through five until he putted an eagle on the sixth to push him into the lead.
Els went from strength to strength on the back nine by scoring five birdies to give him a nine-under par 63 after the first round.
Matthew Baldwin, Alex Noren, Martin Kaymer and Robert-Jan Derksen currently sit tied in second place all on 64, while Englishmen Matthew Nixon and Tom Lewis sit two shots behind the lead in Germany.
