Justin Rose has revealed that the loss of Dustin Johnson's firepower will be a huge blow to Tom Watson's American Ryder Cup team.
Rose scored a second-round 67 to gain the clubhouse lead on eight-under-par in the Bridgstone Invitational in Akron, Ohio as he gets ready for the event at Gleneages.
However, as Rose looks to add his first World Golf Championship to his recent successes in the United States and Scotland, the subject of Johnson's absence continues to overshadow the event.
"Dustin will be certainly missed on one side competing at Gleneagles but then he's played in two Ryder Cups and I know at Medinah he was very dominant," The Express quotes Rose as saying.
"He's a great fourball player given the distance he's hitting it and he's played well in the Major championships.
"Dustin also has that ice in his veins mentality, so sure he will be missed plus he's got that firepower that seems to be a trait on US teams."
The 2014 Ryder Cup at The Gleneagles Hotel, Perthshire, will take place from Friday, September 26 to Sunday, September 28.
