Stephen Gallacher has missed out on automatic qualification for Europe's Ryder Cup team despite an impressive final round at the Italian Open.
The Scot shot a seven-under 65 to jump from sixth to third in Turin, but required a top-two finish to guarantee an automatic place for the event at Gleneagles next month.
In the end, he was one shot away from achieving the feat, finishing behind winner Hennie Otto and David Howell.
Former US Open winner Graeme McDowell has claimed the final guaranteed slot on Paul McGinley's team.

Gallacher could still make his first Ryder Cup appearance if he gets one of McGinley's wildcard picks, which will be decided on Tuesday and have also been tipped to go to Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood and Luke Donald.
