New Zealand native Danny Lee has carded a first-round 65 to earn a slender one-shot lead after day one of the World Golf Championship in Ohio.
Lee, who broke his duck on the PGA Tour with victory at the Greenbrier Classic in July, holed seven birdies in total to enjoy a commanding six-under-par session in Akron.
The 25-year-old is being pursued by Northern Irishman Graeme McDowell and American Jim Furyk, who both shot 66 to sit one stroke behind.
Elsewhere, England's Justin Rose is also in contention as he finished the day on three-under, while his compatriot Paul Casey is one of eight players on two-under.
Fellow Englishmen Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter are joint-fourth with Casey.
