British judo duo reach women's -63kg last 16 in Baku

Team GB's Alice Schlesinger and Gemma Howell reach the last 16 of the women's -63kg judo at the European Games.

Great Britain's Alice Schlesinger and Gemma Howell have qualified for the last 16 of the women's -63kg judo in Baku.

Schlesinger, who switched her allegiance from Israel to Team GB after a dispute last year, was first up, beating Sweden's Anna Bernholm thanks to a yuko 72 seconds into the bout.

Howell was next on the mat, and she dispatched Hilde Drexler in a closely-fought encounter, with the Austrian scoring one penalty to hand her opponent the win.

Team GB's Schlesinger faces Portugal's Ana Cachola in the last 16, while Howell will compete against Sweden's Mia Hermansson for a place in the quarter-final.
