Gary Lineker: 'England will go through despite Italy loss'

Gary Lineker believes England will still progress from their group despite losing 2-1 against Italy on Saturday night.

Former England striker Gary Lineker has expressed his belief that England will still progress from their group despite the 2-1 defeat against Italy last night.

The BBC's Match of the Day presenter took to Twitter to give his thoughts on England's qualification chances.

Lineker tweeted: "For what it's worth I think England will go through!"

The 53-year-old also wrote prior to the full-time whistle: "Whatever happens in this game, with these young stars, and their fearless approach, the future is very bright for England."

England will face Uruguay on Thursday in Group D.
