Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling will stand trial over the alleged assault of a woman on Merseyside, a court heard today.
The England international, who recently signed a new long-term contract at Anfield, was charged with common assault following an incident which left a 27-year-old woman with facial injuries.
Sterling, who was not present at Liverpool Magistrates' Court today, made a formal plea of not guilty through his solicitor and will stand trial later this year, according to Sky Sports News.
The alleged assault to the woman, who is thought to be known by the teen, took place in Toxteth on November 2 last year.
