Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone begins bribery trial in Germany

Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone begins his trial in Germany on bribery charges.

Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone has arrived in court in Germany to begin his trial for alleged bribery.

The 83-year-old is accused of paying £27.5m to a German banker Gerhard Gribkowsky in relation to the sale of a stake in the sport back in 2006.

Ecclestone denies any wrongdoing, but admits that the payment was made to Mr Gribkowsky, who is serving a jail sentence for receiving the money.

The F1 boss, who continues his work with the sport on a daily basis, could face up to 10 years in jail if he is found guilty.
