Organisers of the London Marathon have confirmed that a 30-second silence will take place before the men's race on Sunday.
The decision has been made in the wake of the bombings during yesterday's Boston Marathon, which saw three people lose their lives, as well as causing a large number of casualties.
The silence before the race in London will act as a mark of respect for all those that have been affected, with runners also being encouraged to wear a black ribbon.
Sports Minister Hugh Robertson confirmed earlier today the London Marathon will go ahead, despite the tragic events in America.
