Swansea City defender Garry Monk became the victim of a burglary while the footballer was undergoing surgery.
It has been claimed by South Wales Police that a number of items were taken from Monk's property, including laptop computers, jewellery and the veteran's kit bag.
"Garry and his family are devastated," the BBC quotes a Swansea spokesman as saying.
"He has given everything to the club, the local community and the supporters for nearly a decade and doesn't deserve this. A lot of the items stolen were of great sentimental value and we would urge anyone who knows anything about the robbery to contact the police."
Thieves are said to have forced entry into his home on Gower Road, Killay via the back door between 9am and 2.45pm on Monday.
