Four-time winner John Higgins reaches the World Snooker Championship quarter-finals with a 13-2 victory over Kyren Wilson.

John Higgins has reached the World Snooker Championship quarter-finals for the 17th time with a dominant 13-2 victory over Kyren Wilson.

The four-time world champion has endured a mixed 2022-23 campaign, resulting in him only entering the Crucible as the 10th seed.

However, the Scot has arguably been the player of the tournament thus far, thrashing Wilson to build on his 10-3 over David Grace.

Although Higgins was realistically unlikely to match the quality of the first session, which he won 8-0 and made breaks of 136, 137 and 134, he produced a 128 to move 10-0 ahead.

To Wilson's credit, breaks of 78 and 69 helped reduced the deficit to 11-2, but Higgins won a high-scoring 14th frame before compiling an 80 to seal victory, albeit missing a makeable red when he had been on course for a 147.

The 47-year-old will now play the winner of the contest between Mark Selby and Gary Wilson, the former currently leading by a 10-6 scoreline.

Earlier in the day, Anthony McGill moved 11-5 ahead of Jack Lisowski, with Si Jiahui leading Robert Milkins by the same margin.
