Mauricio Pochettino says that Gaston Ramirez is "happy" at Southampton and expects to stay for the 2013-14 season.

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino has dismissed suggestions that Gaston Ramirez could leave the club this summer.

The Uruguay international has been linked with a switch away from the former Championship club just one year after joining St Mary's.

"He's happy with us and we are counting on him for next season," Pochettino told an Italian website, according to the Daily Echo.

"It's normal that a lot of clubs are interested in his quality, but we don't listen to transfer rumours. We are planning for next season with him on board."

The Saints secured Ramirez from Bologna last year for a club transfer record fee of £12m.
