Double Commonwealth gold medallist Ben Proud has admitted that he didn't expect to achieve anything from this summer's Games in Glasgow.
The 19-year-old will leave Scotland as one of England's most successful swimmers in the pool this week after nabbing his second gold medal of the Games in the 50m freestyle this evening.
When asked by Sports Mole what he realistically expected to achieve heading into the Games, Proud said: "To be honest, nothing.
"[I came here] to gain some experience and to race against all these people here - some great swimmers here, and that, to be honest, was what I was looking forward to. Just getting to the final and see from there, but it's great to come away with a gold."
England have 26 medals from the pool so far, with nine golds, nine silvers and eight bronze medals.
