British swimmer Ben Proud aims to "conquer" short course events

British swimmer Ben Proud says that he is determined to "conquer" short course after failing to medal in Doha last month.

British swimmer Ben Proud has admitted that he needs to "work on" perfecting his short course strengths following an impressive season in the pool.

The 20-year-old ended the summer as a Commonwealth champion, and while he failed to medal at the FINA World Championships in Doha last month, the swimmer earned some personal bests.

"I would never say that the short course was my strength," Proud told Herald Sport. "It is something, as an athlete, that I have to work on and try to conquer.

"A lot has changed in the last year or two and I have learned a lot more. I believe that I am getting there, but I am still not fully there yet."

Proud also broke a British record with the men's relay team during the tournament in Qatar.
