Great Britain storm to gold in mixed 4x100m medley relay at World Championships

Great Britain take gold in the mixed 4x100m medley relay ahead of the USA and Germany in Kazan.

Great Britain have moved to the top of the medal table at the World Championships in Kazan by winning gold in the mixed 4x100m medley relay final.

Chris Walker-Hebborn, Adam Peaty, Siobhan-Marie O'Connor and Fran Halsall were selected to compete in the non-Olympic event, and it was a strong start in the backstroke leg.

Walker-Hebborn was in fourth place at the turn and put his nation on top for Peaty, who won 50m breaststroke earlier in the day, to take over.

The 20-year-old was able to surge ahead and put the Brits in the lead, while O'Connor continued the charge by pulling away from the United States.

Despite a late surge from the field, Halsall was able to bring it home for her nation to grab the team's fourth gold in a world-record time of 3:41.71.

USA claimed silver and Germany nabbed bronze.
