Adam Peaty has broken the world record again on his way to claiming Team GB's first Olympic gold medal with victory in the 100m breaststroke.
The 21-year-old, who set a new world record at the heats stage on Saturday, clocked a time of 57.13s tonight to beat that record by 0.42s.
Peaty finished more than a second and a half ahead of his nearest competitor, former world record holder Cameron van der Burgh, who claimed silver for South Africa with a time of 58.69s.
Bronze went to the USA's Cody Miller with a time of 58.87s.
In winning gold, Peaty becomes Great Britain's first men's Olympic swimming champion since Adrian Moorhouse took gold in the same event in 1988.
