Four-time Olympic champion Missy Franklin has made it through to the 100m freestyle semi-finals alongside Australia's Cate Campbell and Bronte Campbell at the World Championships in Kazan.
Franklin, who won bronze in yesterday's 200m freestyle final, was in contention in the first 50m, but in the home stretch, the American touched the wall third in 54.22s.
In the ninth heat, Sweden's Sarah Sjostrom, who set the world record twice in the 100m butterfly, was in second place at the turn, but she stormed into the lead to complete the race in 53.22s.
The Campbell sisters dominated the final heat by finishing first and second, with Cate clocking 53.22s and Bronte touching the wall in 53.50s.
Sjostrom will head into tonight's semis as the fastest swimmer, with Cate and Bronte third and fourth respectively, while Franklin has qualified 10th fastest.
