Japan's Sara Takanashi: 'Winning gold is my aim'

Sara Takanashi of Japan says that her "aim" at the Sochi Games is to win the normal hill ski jumping event.

Japanese ski jumper Sara Takanashi has said that she is determined to win the gold medal in the women's normal hill at the Winter Olympics.

However, the 17-year-old admits that she is not fully familiar with the RusSki Gorki Jumping Centre in Sochi where the event will take place.

"I would like to have more time to adjust to the hill because there are none like this in Japan," the Japan Times quotes her as saying. "I'm not really happy with my three jumps.

"I have already decided everything tactically and I'm going to stick to it. For me, it's not failure not to win the gold medal, but it is my aim."

Takanashi is currently number one in the Ski Jumping World Cup standings.
