Norwegian skier Ole Einar Bjoerndalen has missed out on the chance to become the outright record Winter Olympics medal holder after finishing fourth in the biathlon pursuit at the 2014 Sochi Games.
The 40-year-old, who completed the course with a time of 34:14.5, went into the race level on 12 medals won alongside fellow countryman Bjoern Daehli.
However, after failing to make the top three, Bjoerndalen missed out on making history, with Frenchman Martin Fourcade taking top spot to add to the silver he picked up in Vancouver four years ago.
Fourcade's triumph ensures a first gold medal of the Sochi Games for France.
