Sochi organisers have revealed that they have passed the one million mark for tickets sold for the 2014 Winter Olympics.
A record attendance of 106,000 packed into Olympic Park on Thursday to watch, among other events, Russia beat Slovenia 5-2 in the men's ice hockey.
Organizing committee chief executive Dmitry Chernyshenko has claimed that ticket sales are matching expectation and has described the atmosphere, particularly at the opening ceremony, as "electric".
"We are quite happy with the atmosphere that we're having at the venues," Chernyshenko told reporters.
It has been estimated that 500,000 different fans have visited Russia to watch some part of the Games.
