Andrew Young: 'Team GB have improved'

Great Britain cross-country skier Andrew Young believes that the team have improved over the past four years.

Great Britain cross-country skier Andrew Young believes that the team have progressed since the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

The 22-year-old was the fastest Briton in the 15km classic on Friday as he finished in 37th place.

Young has said that Team GB have produced better results at the Sochi Games, despite struggling with the warm conditions.

"We have improved a lot. If we got these results four years ago everybody would have been ecstatic. But now everybody is like 'it is ok,'" he told Team GB's official website.

"There has been a huge improvement in the team. Every four years the results are getting so much better that just to think four years ago this was unthinkable – to have someone in the top 30 and top 40 in a race.

"You wouldn't have even imagined that was possible and we are doing that and everyone is like 'it's OK'. Hopefully in four years it will be positive again."

Young was forced to withdraw from today's classic team sprint event due to medical reasons.
