Russian Federation wrestler Aniuar Geduev has admitted that fortune played a part in his gold medal triumph in the men's 74kg freestyle at the European Games.
The 28-year-old defeated Turkey's Soner Demirtas in the final at the Heydar Aliyev Arena, winning the bout 4-0, although Geduev has said that the match could have gone either way.
He told reporters: "I am very happy. This is one more medal in my collection. Thanks to the coaches that let me show myself and chose me to participate in this tournament.
"I had a very experienced and titled rival in the final. I was more lucky to win."
Russia have won 16 gold medals at the Games.
