The Baltimore Ravens have confirmed that tight end Dennis Pitta has signed a new five-year deal with the club.
The 28-year-old was due to be out of contract on March 11 at the end of the league year.
However, the Ravens have moved to secure the future of Pitta, who was an integral part of their team that won Super Bowl XLVII in the 2012 season, signing him to a deal worth $32m (£19m).
Pitta told the club's official website: "I could not be more excited to remain a Baltimore Raven. There is no better organisation or fan base in sports.
"To be given the opportunity to continue my career here is incredible. This organisation drafted me and has always stood by me – especially during my difficult recovery last season – and for that, I am extremely grateful."
Pitta was limited to just four games in the 2013 season due to a hip injury.
