Baltimore Ravens sign Owen Daniels

The Baltimore Ravens agree a deal to sign former Houston Texans tight end Owen Daniels on a one-year contract.

The Baltimore Ravens have agreed a deal to sign former Houston Texans tight end Owen Daniels on a one-year contract.

Daniels saw his eight-year spell with the Texans come to an end last month as they released him on March 11 after an injury-hit 2013 season.

The 31-year-old only managed five appearances last year due to a fractured fibula, while he has been limited to 11 games or fewer in three of the last five campaigns.

The two-time Pro Bowler is expected to serve as a backup to Dennis Pitta, replacing former second-choice tight end Ed Dickson, who was not re-signed at the end of last season.

The move sees Daniels reunited with Ravens offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak, who spent time as the head coach of the Texans while Daniels played in Houston.

The former fourth-round Draft pick has recorded a total of 29 touchdowns in his seven-year career so far.
