Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone will chose the team's starting quarterback 10 days before the beginning of the 2013 NFL season.

Doug Marrone has announced that he plans to decide who will be the Buffalo Bills' starting quarterback 10 days before the beginning of the 2013 NFL season.

Former Arizona Cardinals starter Kevin Kolb is competing with first-round draft pick EJ Manuel for the role.

The head coach told The AP: "You like to sit there as a coach and say you'd like that decision to just come up in front of you.

"Really if you can get 10-12 days prior to that first game, that's when you're going to get pressed for time and have to make a decision on a quarterback.

"That's when you're probably going to start preparing, 10 days out of the first game."

The Bills will open their season against the New England Patriots on September 10.
