Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone says that the competition between quarterbacks Kevin Kolb and EJ Manuel continues, despite Kolb injuring his knee.

Doug Marrone has insisted that it is still too soon to name the Buffalo Bills' starting quarterback for the 2013 NFL season.

First-round draft pick EJ Manuel is competing for the role with former Arizona Cardinals QB Kevin Kolb, who has been missing from training camp this week with an apparent knee injury.

The head coach told reporters: "Oh, absolutely. It's too early to say that. Right now, approximately, EJ has about 100 more snaps. And then where you get caught up as a player is really on Kevin's last day was probably his best day.

"Obviously you want to see it coming back. And a veteran player, having these days off, we expect him to come back in better shape than if he was a rookie.

"It's not going to go by time missed because we're still in competition. And our goal is to be equal and fair. And there are a lot of things that go into that."

Kolb is seeking medical advice on the injury, which happened off the field, and is expected back at the Bills' practice facility later today.
