Jacksonville Jaguars make late comeback to ruin Josh Gordon's day

The Cleveland Browns suffer defeat to the Jacksonville Jaguars despite another 200-yard receiving performance from Josh Gordon.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have won their third game out of four thanks to a late touchdown from Cecil Shorts, on a day when Cleveland Browns receiver Josh Gordon broke an NFL record.

Wideout Gordon has become the first player in the history of the sport to have two consecutive appearances with over 200 receiving yards, but it still was not enough as Chad Henne led the visitors to an unlikely victory.

The Browns started strongly, with quarterback Brandon Weeden finding Gordon on a 42-yard gain and two plays later, Willis McGahee scored the game's first touchdown with a one yard rush.

Four minutes later, the away side were level. A strong drive in which they secured five first downs ended with Henne finding Clay Harbor on an 18-yard throw to give the Jaguars just their sixth passing touchdown of the season - a league low.

In the second quarter, Weeden edged his side ahead once more. This time he found Gordon in the endzone for 21 yards, allowing the receiver to pass the 100-yard mark for the sixth time this season.

Jacksonville levelled with 1.14 left on the clock in the half, with running back Maurice Jones-Drew passing short to Marcedes Lewis for an eight-yard score.

A Dwayne Gratz interception allowed the Jaguars to get into field goal positioning to edge in the lead, before a late sack on Weeden meant that they strengthened their advantage by six at the break.

In the third quarter, Gordon suffered concussion and was questionable to return, but Greg Little hauled in a Henne pass to hand the initiative back to Cleveland.

A safety and a field goal kept Jacksonville in the contest, but the returning Gordon scored a 95-yard touchdown with 3.55 left to break the NFL record and put the Browns into a seemingly unassailable lead.

But Henne decided he was not finished either, and on another strong drive, found Shorts with just 40 seconds left to stun the Browns and steal the win.
