Matthew Stafford throws Detroit Lions to victory

Matthew Stafford throws four touchdown passes, three of which are caught by Joseph Fauria, as the Detroit Lions record a 31-17 win over the Cleveland Browns.

Matthew Stafford threw four touchdown passes, including three to Joseph Fauria, to help his side to a 31-17 win over the Cleveland Browns this afternoon.

The visitors were the first to get on the scoreboard, doing so in the first quarter when Stafford found Fauria in the end zone from just a yard out.

The Browns restored parity just two minutes into the second quarter as Brandon Weeden's short pass allowed a wide-open Chris Ogbonnaya to stroll over the line.

Cleveland then took the lead with a little over one minute left in the half when Weeden once again through a short pass, this time to Greg Little in the end zone to complete a two-yard score.

Billy Cundiff edged the hosts further ahead with a field goal in the dying seconds of the half, but the Lions came roaring back in the third quarter when Stafford's pass found Reggie Bush in space, allowing him to break through a tackle on his way to scoring an 18-yard touchdown.

The visitors took the lead in the final quarter when Stafford's 23-yard pass found Fauria, who did well to hold onto the ball under heavy pressure for his second touchdown of the match.

David Akers edged the Lions further ahead with a 51-yard field goal before Fauria wrapped the win up with his third touchdown of the day, once again catching Stafford's pass in the end zone.
