Green Bay Packers linebacker Sam Barrington has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to a foot injury.
The 24-year-old won a starting role in the club's defense last season and took over the playcalling duties during the off-season.
Barrington sustained a foot injury in his side's season opener against the Chicago Bears and was replaced by Nate Palmer, and the problem has been deemed so severe that he has been placed on season-ending injured reserve.
The Packers claimed a 31-23 victory over the Bears at Soldier Field.
