Green Bay Packers rally to reach NFC championship game

The Green Bay Packers rally from an eight-point deficit to defeat the Dallas Cowboys 26-21 and reach the NFC championship game.

The Packers started the game in the best fashion on offense as they drove downfield with their running game.

Eddie Lacy churned up the yards before Aaron Rodgers found tight end Andrew Quarless for a five-yard touchdown.

Dallas hit back with a methodical drive as Tony Romo completed short passes while DeMarco Murray had success running the ball. A pass interference call moved the visitors to the goal line, where Romo hit his full-back Tyler Clutts in the flat for a one-yard score.

The Cowboys' defense then came up with a huge play as Jeremy Mincey sacked Rodgers and forced a fumble from the All-Pro, which allowed his side's offense to take over in good field position.

Romo guided his team into the lead when he picked out Terrance Williams, who found a gap in the defense to sprint into the endzone for a 38-yard score, silencing the crowd at Lambeau Field.

Just before the interval the Cowboys tried to add a field goal from 50 yards, but Dan Bailey's kick was blocked by Datone Jones and deflected wide of the post.

This allowed the Packers a short field to move into kicking range themselves and Mason Crosby brought his side within four points with an effort from 40 yards.

In the second half, the Packers moved downfield with ease and they looked to be threatening the goal line before a personal foul penalty forced them to settle for a field goal from Crosby.

Dallas responded by extending their lead to eight points as Romo again showed poise before handing the ball off on the goal line to Murray for the one-yard touchdown.

The Packers were lucky to escape a fumble from Randall Cobb on the ensuing kickoff, and they took advantage of their good fortune as Rodgers drilled a pass to Davante Adams over the middle of the field, allowing the receiver to move down the right side and get in for a 46-yard score.

In the fourth quarter, Rodgers came into his own as he managed to escape the pocket under duress and fire a pass to the back of the endzone for his tight end Richard Rodgers, although they failed from the resulting two-point conversion.

There was time for Dallas to drive downfield once more and they came within inches of regaining the lead on a fourth down play when Romo lofted the ball up to Dez Bryant, who appeared to make an outstanding catch on the goal line, only for it to be overturned on review by the officials.

Mike McCarthy's men ran out the clock to advance the NFC championship game for the first time since the 2010 season.
