Green Bay Packers pick up first away win

The Green Bay Packers edge past the Baltimore Ravens 19-17 to pick up their first away win of the season.

The Green Bay Packers have recorded their first away win of the NFL season by edging past reigning Super Bowl champions Baltimore Ravens 19-17.

Both sides struggled to launch any meaningful offensive plays in the first half, with each quarterback being sacked three times and posting pass completion figures of less than 50%.

Mason Crosby was the only man who got on the scoreboard before half time, kicking a 45-yard field goal at the start of the match and a 31-yard one with two seconds left of the second quarter.

The woes of both quarterbacks continued in the third quarter as Joe Flacco was sacked and fumbled the ball early on before Aaron Rodgers threw the first interception of the game.

Once again it was left to the kickers to keep the scoreboard ticking over, and Crosby made it 9-0 to Green Bay before Justin Tucker reduced the deficit back to six points.

The first touchdown of the match finally came late in the third quarter as Rodgers showed his class with an inch-perfect 64-yard pass to Jordy Nelson, who had an easy jog into the end zone.

The Ravens responded with a touchdown of their own early in the fourth quarter as Jacoby Jones showed good footwork to take an 11-yard Flacco pass at the back of the end zone.

The visitors edged nine points clear with just over four minutes left through another Crosby kick, but Dallas Clark brought the Ravens back within one score with a touchdown from Flacco's 18-yard pass.

They could not complete the comeback, however, as their unbeaten home record came to an end to leave their overall record at 3-3.
