Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly failed with a £12.5m bid for Udinese defender Thomas Kristensen.
Wolves recently saw their bid to sign Kevin Danso hijacked by Tottenham Hotspur, before talks over a potential deal to re-sign Leicester City's Conor Coady ultimately failed to bear fruit.
The Midlands club soon turned their focus to Udinese's Kristensen in a bid to bring in another centre-back following Emmanuel Agbadou's arrival earlier this month.
Kristensen, who has previously been linked with Spurs, has seemingly impressed Wolves with his performances in his 12 Serie A appearances this season.

Wolves fail with Kristensen swoop
However, according to the Daily Mail, Wolves have failed in their efforts to sign Kristensen before the transfer deadline.
The report claims that Udinese rejected Wolves' €15m (£12.5m) bid for a player who is under contract until the summer of 2028.
Wolves were not expected to return to the negotiating table with an improved offer, but they could still recruit a new centre-back before the market draws to a close.
They are believed to be close to signing defender Nasser Djiga from Belgian side Standard Liege in a reported £10m deal.
Djiga is expected to be followed through the door by Reims midfielder Marshall Munetsi, bolstering Pereira's options in Wolves' Premier League survival bid.
