Dontari Poe: 'I'll go easy on Alex Smith during Pro Bowl'

Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Dontari Poe says that he will challenge Alex Smith in the "smoothest way possible" during Sunday's Pro Bowl.

Defensive tackle Dontari Poe has admitted that he won't hit opposing quarterback Alex Smith too hard during Sunday's Pro Bowl, as he doesn't want to injure his Kansas City Chiefs teammate.

The Chiefs duo were selected on opposite sides of Wednesday's Pro Bowl draft, with Poe the choice of Deion Sanders and Smith an assigned pick for Jerry Rice.

Following the draft, Poe told reporters: "I won't be too violent. I know how important Alex is for the Chiefs, but at the same time I'm trying to win the truck they're giving away for the game's MVP. So we'll see how it is.

"I might be gentile. I've got to get the sacks though. I might get him the smoothest way I can, but we'll see about it."

Poe and Smith are not the only teammates who will be facing each other in Hawaii, with Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck poised to face his own linebacker Robert Mathis at the weekend.
