Mark Wilf promises exciting Super Bowl

Minnesota Vikings owner Mark Wilf promises an exciting 2018 Super Bowl after Minneapolis was chosen as the host city today.

Minnesota Vikings owner Mark Wilf has promised an exciting Super Bowl in 2018 after Minneapolis was revealed as the host city today.

Minneapolis beat out competition from New Orleans and Indianapolis to earn the right to host the showpiece event for just the second time, and the first in more than 25 years.

The match will take place at the Vikings' proposed new $1bn (£593.8m) stadium, which is due to be finished and opened in 2016.

"We appreciate the collaborative effort from Minnesota's business and community leadership in putting together this winning bid," Wilf is quoted as saying by CBS.

"It was evident to me and my brother Zygi that the other NFL owners were extremely impressed with everything Minnesota had to offer, and we have no doubt they will be even more excited with what the community will deliver in February 2018."

Minneapolis last hosted the event in 1992, when Washington overcame Buffalo.
