Brandon Spikes accuses New England Patriots of false injured reserve report

Buffalo Bills linebacker Brandon Spikes accuses former team the New England Patriots of producing a "false report" to put him on injured reserve last season.

Buffalo Bills linebacker Brandon Spikes has accused former team the New England Patriots of producing a "false report" to put him on injured reserve last season.

Spikes was placed on IR at the start of January having dealt with a knee injury throughout the campaign, although reports have since claimed that he was put on the list having arrived late for a team meeting.

The 26-year-old joined the Bills on a one-year deal on Friday having been released by the Patriots, and he echoed former teammate Aqib Talib's claims that the Patriots were not always honest with their IR reports.

"I heard they put me on IR and stuff like that. That was just a false report. That's just how things go there. Almost like what happened with Talib and his hip," Spikes told WGR.

"That was just from the labor throughout the season, man. It was just - you know how it is - it's a tough 16 games. All I needed was rest and rehab."

Spikes recently admitted that he was "devastated" to miss out on the playoffs last season.
