Jason Pierre-Paul rehabbing away from New York Giants

New York Giants star Jason Pierre-Paul continues to go through rehabilitation without the franchise's supervision.

New York Giants star Jason Pierre-Paul is getting his own medical care after the fireworks accident that cost him his right index finger.

Pierre-Paul has no timetable for returning to the team, but expects to be healthy and play the first game of the season.

"I don't think JPP is receiving very good advice right now," team owner John Mara told the New York Post.

"He has told people that he's fine and that he's going to be ready to play, but until we see the hand, we're just not sure."

The Giants star is not technically under contract with the Giants, and so has no obligation to allow them to examine him or grant them control over his rehabilitation.
